Meet the Maker Kylie Guimont

she/her, artist, sister, partner, teacher, daughter, woodworker, business owner, dog & cat mom

Hello! My name is Kylie, maker of these wood things. I live in North East Minnesota in a 1910 farm house with my partner (Dustin), our dog (Mowgli) and cat (Ginger).

Four years ago, I found my love for woodworking. Specifically, with reclaimed materials. Dustin runs his own small business as a carpenter, meaning there is always scrap wood laying around. I started messing around in the shop making scrap wood frames for my watercolor doodles. Slowly, I learned how to (and how not to) use the various saws, machines, & tools in the shop. This led me to purchasing & teaching myself how to use my very own scroll saw (the mini saw I use to hand cut organic shapes/lines/letters in my work). I now have this small business of mine where I bring meaning back to scrap materials by creating various unique works of art.

I enjoy working with reclaimed/repurposed/recycled materials because it attaches a story behind each piece & restores a purpose back into the materials used. It’s my favorite form of recycling! My materials come from various places including old barns/decks/siding/shelves, construction sites, previous DIY projects etc...

When I’m not in the shop, you can find me milking cows at a local homestead farm, helping teach small humans, tending to my first garden, doing yoga, listening to a true crime podcast, cooking/baking, playing with my dog, or rewatching Ted Lasso.

Got Scraps?

  • Lets work together to create a unique piece with your memorable wood material (eg. picture frames, chairs, table, flooring, doors, siding etc.). You supply the material, I do the rest. Email me with questions or to start the process. Lets get scrappy!

  • Contact me with descriptions of possible wood donations for use in my future projects. Drop off (Braham, MN) and pickup options available depending on material and location.
